Applied Design Works

Work Status
In the second half of 2023, we built a brand new site for ADW. We enjoy working with ADW. The excellence of their work comes through not just in the beauty and functionality of the visual design, but also in the craftsmanship of the process. We are never working with vague directions and static mockups. ADW provides pixel-perfect design specifications that make implementation easy.

NYU Langone Health Brand Center

Work Status
The brand center we built with Applied Design Works back in 2017 was given a significant upgrade in 2023. The entire site was rebuilt from the ground up, this time using blocks, which had become standard for WordPress, and we'd proved worked well previously when working for the Dartmouth Health brand center. We also integrated more robust access to the site via Microsoft Entra SSO. WordPress plugins make this easy. This site is available to the public Internet, but private to authorized users, most of whom are NYL Langone employees. The balance are design professionals who may not have accounts in the NYU system. All users access the site securely either through SSO or via strong passwords and multi-factor authentication (MFA). 2021 Wrap Up

Work Status
We partnered this year with Applied Design Works to launch a brand center for Dartmouth Health. Similar to the work done for NYU Langome, this brand center was built on WordPress and hosted with WP Engine. Using modern WordPress techniques, we used Gutenberg blocks rather than the reusable types based on Advanced Custom Fields, which was a great improvement for the content editors because they could see how pages would look without using the preview feature. The site was handed off the the DH IT team for maintenance. Continuing in the role of platform architect for Clorox, we worked on a large integration project to begin moving sites over the Lytics CDP. This work involved real time, backend synchronization between the local consumer database with the graph database inside Lytics.…

2017 Wrap Up

Work Status
Work for Clorox continued this year. A major effort was made to modernize most sites to the current platform version which as eased continuing support. We also aided in launching many sites serving markets outside of the US. Adapting the platform for the WPML plugin was particularly interesting. We launched the NYU Langone Health Brand Center, a resource for the organization to communicate brand standards to their many marketing partners. This site was built on WordPress using a custom page-building interface that uses a set of carefully-crafted modules. In this way, the look of the site is uniform and regular, as well as quick to build out content. We built this site in partnership with Applied Design Works.

Services to Clorox this year were split between managing the Clorox platform and the Fresh Step web site, which launched a re-platform where the frontend design remained unchanged but the backend transitioned from an older custom framework to WordPress.
